1935  Gibson A-00 "Marie"

Well kept '30s A-00. Lots of love here. w/ohsc

From the mid-1930's and from the daughter of the original owner, "Marie". This beautiful Gibson A-00 mandolin has been lovingly kept, unplayed, for many years, by a woman whose mother got it as a gift for her 14th birthday somewhere around 1935. She put a tiny decal on the side with her name on it, Marie, in beautiful gold script, and it deserves to remain there as part of the story. This instrument is about as new, shiny with no scratches or nicks and virtually no fret wear. The original pickguard, being of a nitrate, has long since disintegrated and we have made an undetectable repro here in our own shop. The center seam of the flat back did separate slightly years ago and we likewise closed it up, nearly undetectably. There are no other issues or repairs of any sort. The action is nice and low with its original ebony bridge, and playability is perfect and easy. The tone is big and bright and clear, with 75 years of aging of the wood being quite audible. A lovely instrument for anyone. Comes with its original hard shell case.

Price: $ 1,495.00   w/ohsc
